Before launching Tri Action Delores encountered her own personal obstacles. In 2003 she was diagnosis with breast cancer only a year after entering into full time ministry as a gospel artist. Devastated beyond belief she was thrust off the gospel stage and onto the speaker platform. Breast cancer crystalized a purpose for Delores making her an advocate and survivor role model. She was highly sought-after as a speaker because she had a way of serenading inspiration to all women, however she was especially gifted at persuading Black women and other minorities to be their own “Number One” Advocates! Delores sounded the alarm on the devastating deaths among Black women and amplified a call to action for faith and self-love! In 2005 she authored Suspicion of Malignancy, a candid book about her breast cancer journey.
In 2006 she marched the halls of Congress in Washington, DC advocating for mammogram funding and performed a mini concert on Capitol Hill as an ambassador for early detection! In 2008 Delores creatively took breast cancer to the stage after she wrote, produced, and starred in her one-woman musical entitled Fighting for the Title. Fighting slays the myth that breast cancer is an automatic death sentence and ushers everyone into a journey to thrive! She has addressed tens of thousands of women and men in the breast cancer arena and Fighting has played over 18 stages from Atlanta to Alaska.
